We have engaged a consultant who will, at the request of the USSA, provide advice to all UNAIDS staff on questions pertaining to conditions of employment and workplace issues. The consultant, Maria Dweggah, has a wealth of experience from her 15 years as an elected representative of the WHO Staff Association (holding positions as President and Vice President), as former General Secretary of FICSA (Federation of International Civil Servants Associations) and as Executive Secretary of the WHO Headquarters Board of Appeals (HBA).
The USSA will forward individual requests to the consultant who will then contact the staff member and follow-up either by phone, email, Skype or in person. Should the consultant assess that formal legal action is required, she will forward such cases back to the USSA for referral to the USSA legal adviser (please note that legal advice is available only to dues-paying members of the USSA). The convention with the legal advisor is being currently revised to avoid duplication.
